PET GUIDE
Pets can be very useful companions in the game if you know few important things. Here they are:
The picture below shows pet interface,
the green section shows how much pets you can have and how much you have now, the red section allows you to display particular kind of the pet, the first one shows all kinds of pets, purple one is skill section. Yellow section shows the pet you've selected, both: purple and yellow sections will be described below.
Another thing to know about pets are actions that make your pet auto-loot for you, do emote or follow you.
Lime green is auto-loot, pink is emote, orange one is follow. As you can see, cat has auto-loot and emotion switched ON and follow switched OFF.
To use emotion and follow skill you need to put the icon on you key bar. Press P to access skills menu, orange - follow, pink - emote.
- you get some for free while completing the main story quests
- buy from other players (Auction House) - you can buy pets from green to gold quality
- buy from guild points shop - you can buy only monkey of purple quality
Press Y, currencies summary window,
then follow steps on screenshot
- catch them yourself (hunter ONLY) - what you catch depends on your luck of meeting the pet (or knowing places you can find them) mbo-english.proboards.com/thread/222/hunter-job-guide
- breeding/mating pets (hunter ONLY) - mating is a way to get same or better quality pet
3. Pet breeding
First of all, i want to note that breeding pets takes a lot of time and luck. To breed pets, there are few conditions that needs to be met:
a) mating skill (this one is quite easy to get)
b) the same type of pet (you need to mate dog with dog, cat with cat, quite logical yet can be a problem sometimes)
c) different genders (this one can be quite problematic, since you can't tell if it's male or female before "using/equiping" it)
d) both pets need to be mature (after getting pet it is a baby, after 6-7 days it should be ready to mate)
Here are some examples of how we can determine important for breeding information.
Colored info from left to right:
DOG: male, young, can't be mated (yet), times mated 0/1
BUNNY: female, mature, ready to mate, times mated 0/1
CAT: male, old, can't be mated, times mated 1/1
To find out how long your pet will live or when it will grow up for mating, you can hover over the age bar (in this pic it's the "empty", black bar). In this example, cormorant will be a baby for 15 days, grown up pet for 30 days and old one for 60 days.
If i want to mate one of my pets, i ask my friends about their pets first (but chance of getting suitable pet is low), that's why i tend to "plan" it. I get ready some pets of the same type in my bag (it's best to include in this project one of your friends that don't have a pet or happen to want one of the type you'll mate). "Use" one pet yourself, give one for your friend, then check if they are opposite gender. If they are, you need to give your pet few days to mature. If not, you can try "using" another pet to see if it will match.
Why is it best to include your friends in breeding? Here are the reasons:
I. Each pet can be mated only once and breeding gives only 1 offspring (which is distributed by rolling). You can clearly say you want the baby and ask your friend not to roll it.
II. You let your friend have pet for free (since the parent pet will stay with your friend)
III. Thanks to breeding your friend will get achievement
The table is from chinese site, i added pics of pets i caught and was able to mate, it still needs more work and research, i'll update it from time to time.
