How to use:
This guide consists of 3 parts. Making a QQ account, game installation, and launching the game. Please read carefully to avoid issues with registration and installation.
MAKING A QQ ACCOUNT
Notes:
Option 1: Using the WEBSITE (MMOs.com guide):
NOTE: If you are from the EU, please use this method. The app method will lock your account from playing (Moonlight Blade is not GDPR compliant).
Option 2: Using the APP:
Download QQ, follow the steps below to register. Please note that QQ International is no longer available from the Apple or Google Play Store and you will need to use the standard Chinese QQ.
After creating your account, follow the MMOs.com guide to verify your age (steps 2-4).
INSTALLATION
Before installing:
If you are having trouble finding Control Panel in Windows 10, you can also change system locale via the Region and Language tab of Settings:
Option 1: Download with WeGame (preferred method):
WeGame is the Steam of Tencent. It has it's own ping booster. Downloading the game through WeGame should be faster.
Go to wegame.com
Click on this button in the top right corner:
Launch the exe:
Log in with QQ number and password:
Search 天涯明月刀 in the search bar then download it:
Click the blue download button to start downloading:

Option 2: Download with the WEBSITE:
Click on the 登录 after you open the downloader, log in with your QQ ID and password. This will boost your download speed.
When it is finished downloading, another button will popup to launch the installer. The installer will look like this:
Hit the "N" button to continue. The game will then ask if you want to submit game data to improve gaming experience (fill in the check mark to agree):
The installer can also add other apps. We only recommend adding the TGP app.
Finally you can change the location of the game folder before you start installing.
LAUNCHING THE GAME
Click this icon on your desktop to open the Moonlight Blade Launcher:
Login with your QQ number and password:
The launcher should arrive on the MBO game page:

When you launch the game for the first time, you will be greeted with this message:

After logging in, you can select which server you would like to play on. If you would like to play with others from the Moonlight Blade English Community, please follow the directions below:

This means you have been flagged as an EU player, and are locked from playing Moonlight Blade. You can follow the link to see if you can lift the restriction, but it is more reliable to make a new account using the WEBSITE method.

- Making a QQ account will ask for a phone number to send a verification code to. Online phone number generators may or may not work. We recommend saving this phone number in case your account is locked.
- Using the app is overall less buggy and tends to accept generated phone numbers more easily.

- Turn off your antivirus! There have been instances where antivirus software has overreacted to the game files, which can mess up your installation.
- PLEASE make sure you are changing the SYSTEM LOCALE correctly. This means going into Control Panel and using the Region option to change the language. Note that the description for the option could also be called “Chinese (Simplified, PRC)”. This change WILL NOT change the language of Windows. This process is the same across all versions of modern Windows (7, 8, 10).
- This will not change the language of your interface! If it has, then you changed the wrong thing.

This is where you will need to provide Tencent with identification information. This means either a valid Chinese resident ID (click the yellow button on that window and type in the info) or a scan of your passport + a picture of you holding your passport (you will need to open up a support ticket with Tencent).
